"Sephora" Documentary
[2021] In the documentary "Sephora," we hear the stories of Iranian Jews who had to leave Iran after the Islamic Revolution in 1979. They tell us about their lives in Iran and how they managed to escape in the 1980s. Growing up in Iran wasn't easy for them, especially after the revolution changed everything. They faced discrimination and fear because of their religion, but they also remember the good times with their families and communities.
The Holy Screams
[2017] In the revelatory documentary "The Holy Screams," the veil is lifted on Islamic Republic of Iran's insidious orchestration of music and psychology to manipulate its traditional population. Against the backdrop of Iran's rich cultural heritage, the film exposes the government's weaponization of music, deftly weaving melodies and rhythms to evoke specific emotions and reinforce its propaganda. Through interviews, archival footage, and expert analysis, viewers are confronted with the psychological impact of this manipulation, as well as the relentless censorship faced by artists navigating a perilous landscape of taboos. Yet, amidst the darkness, the documentary also highlights stories of resistance and resilience, underscoring the power of music as a force for liberation. "The Holy Screams" challenges audiences to confront uncomfortable truths about the intersection of music and propaganda, leaving a lasting impression of the enduring human spirit in the face of oppression.

In het filmportret ‘Xewn’ vertelt de Koerdische Rezan hoe hij als 16-jarige in de Turkse gevangenis belandt. Door het lezen van filosofische boeken trotseert hij het harde gevangenisleven. Kort na zijn vrijlating dreigt hij opnieuw de gevangenis in te moeten en besluit hij het land uit te vluchten. Hoe vergaat het Rezan in Nederland en waar haalt hij de kracht vandaan om positief te zijn in het leven van alledag?
